Kwamene Nichols

Kwamene Nichols is the founder of A Path to Ascension Publications and is the epitome of how one can always go inwards to bring about the changes that they desire to see in their lives. His tale of woes starts off at the early age of 16 where he witnessed the miraculous works of a peer get shot, pronounced dead, only to rise again and come back to life by forces unseen. This intrigued his relationship with the Most High, who protected him when he was shot 9 times and, witnessed two of more of his close friends lose their lives in the same instant. This was followed by an incarceration that odds constantly tried to convince him that it would take longer to overcome. However, due to his will combined with the belief of anything being possible, and while on a heightened security level for fabricated accusations of assaulting an officer, and even after prominent parole attorneys assured him that his goal of parole was unobtainable, he still pursued, and succeeded, and was granted his first parole in TDCJ. Upon release, he tried his hand at entrepreneurship but, unfortunately still straddled the fences of street culture and was shot again 12 more times and had to endure another incarceration. Since then, after making the complete decision to abandoned street culture, Mr. Nichols has authored two books with a third in the making, started his own publication company, is the host of Ascension T.V on YouTube, and co-owns and manages several successful businesses with his lovely wife. He is a prime example of what can happen when one seeks to go inward for the changes they want to see in their lives!

This eloquent collection of poems is a testament to the power of human resolve and the hand of God at work. McCloud has crated a network that has allowed him to utilize his experience and imagination to impact the young men and women who are still enduring the same challenges that contributed to his going astray. McCloud represents the lost voices and presences of the many Melanin Fathers, brothers, husbands, and sons who will one day be coming home from prisons around this country! It is through his poetry and his writings that Mr. McCloud has found a way to allow freedom to be present in his life.
